Let me say, first off, that I have nothing against opening the web experience to those with disabilities. This, in and of itself, is certainly a noble cause. Where I begin to waver in my support is when lawmakers start to require that everything be brought down to the lowest common denominator. Anytime you are limited to the lowest common denominator you end up not pleasing anyone.

This is the same argument I always had with Jakob Nielsen of the AlertBox. If you assume everyone is using a VIC20 to view your site, you are likely to lose the percentage of viewers who actually *like* pretty web pages.

In light of Amazon.com's latest publicity stunt, it's refreshing to see that the patent process has always been flawed.

I liked this one though. Now you can actually tell if you *are* 10 pounds lighter. I'm sure Ice Cube will be thrilled.
